Purpose: This document will explain how to use Trimble Hall 200's podium cabinet. Please contact the LAC at x25148 (TH 307) if you require assistance.

  • Using the Podium Cabinet Computer:

    1. If the ceiling projector is not already turned on, turn it on by pointing the projector remote at the ceiling projector while pressing and holding down the power button until it turns on (the projector will not turn on instantly; it will take a few moments to power up).

    2. If the computer is not already turned on, press the round power button on the front of the computer located in the center shelf of the podium cabinet.

    3. After the ceiling projector comes on, press the "RGB1" button.

    4. Ensure that the switch on the switchbox, located on the top-right shelf of the cabinet is turned to the "A" position. Refer to Exhibit 1 at right.

    5. Operate the Macintosh computer as you normally would. Should you need to login, select "TH 200" and enter the password "th200".

    6. If you require audio while using the computer, please ensure that the audio mixer (the light gray box with seven knobs on the front) is turned on and both the PC and master volume knobs are turned up on the panel. Refer to "C" in Exhibit 2.

    7. If you need to use a USB device, please locate the USB hub on the lower-right shelf.

When using the computer, make sure the switchbox is set at "A".



  • Using the Podium Cabinet DVD Player:

    1. If the ceiling projector is not already turned on, turn it on by pointing the projector remote at the ceiling projector while pressing and holding down the power button until it turns on (the projector will not turn on instantly; it will take a few moments to power up).

    2. After the ceiling projector comes on, press the "Video" button.

    3. Ensure that the audio mixer (the light gray box with seven knobs on the front) is turned on and both the DVD and master volume knobs are turned up on the panel. Refer to "C" in Exhibit 2.

    4. If it is not already turned on, press the power button on the DVD player, then operate the DVD player as you normally would.

    5. Please note that there is also a DVD player remote that you may use.

  • Using the Podium Cabinet VCR:

    1. If the ceiling projector is not already turned on, turn it on by pointing the projector remote at the ceiling projector while pressing and holding down the power button until it turns on (the projector will not turn on instantly; it will take a few moments to power up).

    2. After the ceiling projector comes on, press the "Video" button.

    3. Ensure that the audio mixer (the light gray box with seven knobs on the front) is turned on and both the VCR and master volume knobs are turned up on the panel. Refer to "C" in Exhibit 2.

    4. If it is not already turned on, press the power button on the VCR, then operate the VCR as you normally would.

    5. Please note that there is also a VCR remote that you may use.

Available media include a DVD player, VCR and audio cassette / CD player.



  • Connecting a Laptop to the Podium Cabinet

    1. If the ceiling projector is not already turned on, turn it on by pointing the projector remote at the ceiling projector while pressing and holding down the power button until it turns on (the projector will not turn on instantly; it will take a few moments to power up).

    2. After the ceiling projector comes on, press the "RGB1" button.

    3. Connect the gray monitor cable (Refer to the laptop cable in Exhibit 4) to your laptop's external monitor plug. The gray monitor cable, as well as the black audio cable and blue network cable may be in the storage compartment on top of the cabinet. Refer to "Laptop cable" in Exhibit 4 at right. There is also a power outlet for your laptop within the storage compartment.

    4. Locate the desktop / laptop switch on the top-right shelf of the cabinet (Refer to Exhibit 1) and switch it to "B" (remember to switch it back to "A" when you are done).

    5. Power on and operate your laptop as normal.

    6. If you require audio while using the laptop, please disconnect the black audio plug on top of the cabinet and connect it to your laptop (refer to "Audio jack" in Exhibit 4) then do the following:

      1. Ensure that the audio mixer (the light gray box with seven knobs on the front) is turned on and both the PC and master volume knobs are turned up on the panel. Refer to "C" in Exhibit 2.

      2. Please remember to reconnect the plug to the cabinet when you're finished.



    7. If you need to go online, locate the blue network cable on top of the podium and connect it to your laptop. Refer to "Network cable" in Exhibit 4.

    8. On some laptops, you might need to enable the "external monitor" function. Consult your laptop's manual if you do not know how to do so.

  • Using the Podium Cabinet Camera Projector:

    1. If the ceiling projector is not already turned on, turn it on by pointing the projector remote at the ceiling projector while pressing and holding down the power button until it turns on (the projector will not turn on instantly; it will take a few moments to power up).

    2. After the ceiling projector comes on, press the "Video" button.

    3. Slide out the camera projector drawer on the right end of the cabinet.

    4. Press the power button on the left side of the camera projector.

    5. Gently pull up the lens head assembly and position it to your liking, and do the same with the two arm lights.

    6. There is a button pad on the front of the camera projector that will allow you to turn on and off the arm lights, as well as the base light.

    7. When you are finished, please fold up the camera projector and push the drawer back into the podium cabinet.

  • Shutting Down the Podium Cabinet

    1. Please turn off any media you used (VCR, DVD, Computer etc).

    2. If you used a laptop, please ensure that you re-connected the black audio plug to the cabinet and switched the desktop / laptop switch back to "A". Refer to Exhibit 1.

    3. Please turn off the ceiling projector: point the projector remote at the ceiling projector and press and hold the "off" button until the projector turns off (it may take a few moments).

    4. Please turn the podium cabinet's main power off. Find the red switch in the panel above the audio mixer and switch it to off. Refer to "B" in Exhibit 2.
